Ernesto's Story

Juan Ernesto Alonso is 42 years old, married and has a son 3 years old. He is a youth Pastor at an inner city church here in Ensenada. The majority of the congregants come with a dubious past; a history which involves drugs and destructive behavior.

Ernesto had been praying for a way to be equipped to better serve his youth and his church community. His prayers were answered when he was offered the opportunity to attend the training center of CELCU.

Shortly after starting classes Ernesto felt a need to dedicate more time in God’s service. During the process of making a decision to leave his job of fifteen years he was asking God what would be the best way to transition, and caring for his family financially. He had been debating the issue for some time.

One fine day, while making a delivery, Ernesto was standing in front of a business observing a person at a stand selling food. Suddenly an older gentleman appeared in front of him out of nowhere and said “You see that person at the stand, he makes more money in one day than you make in a week”. Instantly the old gentleman disappeared. Ernesto was stupefied. Nevertheless he received that as a sign from God. Ernesto left his employment of fifteen years.

He started a hot dogs business selling from a cart. He is doing very well.

Now he has a business of his own, has time to dedicate to the study of God’s Word and can better serve those placed in his care, his youth group.

Ernesto is a very dedicated student. We have seen maturity and growth in his life. We have received calls from his pastor stating how Ernesto has improved in the short time he has received training at CELCU.
